An ancient and unique natural landmark of the park that did not survive to this day.
It received its name "Lyra" due to its resemblance to a musical instrument.
On May 7, 2010, the pine tree could not withstand the pressure of the wind and split in half. On the same day, in the same location, employees of the Stavyshchensky Housing and Utilities Enterprise planted a young pine tree, which, however, did not take root.
Volodymyr Kapustin wrote an essay called "Immortal Romance" for the newspaper "Slovo Prosvity," linking the story of translating the poem "When Two Part" by the German romantic poet Heinrich Heine with the story of the Lyra pine tree:
"In the town of Stavyshche, located in Kyiv region, there is a picturesque park. Along its wide alleys that lead down to the blue pond, tall spruces and majestic ancient oaks stand shoulder to shoulder like soldiers on parade.
However, it is not they that attract the attention of many park visitors, but an unusual and rare-shaped old pine tree. It resembled a lyre, the musical instrument. Near this 'musical' tree, a young man named Maksym Slavinsky used to rest and dream in the gentle silence. It was here that he composed a poem for his peer, the beautiful Oksana. He read it to her, and she liked it.
During the harsh feudal times, this boy from an ordinary rural family was fortunate enough to enroll in Kyiv University. Every year, during the summer break, he would visit his native Stavyshche. He always met with Oksana, the girl he was in love with.
One summer evening, when the moon generously spilled its silver charms, everything in the park seemed special, like a fairy tale. Slender, dressed in white, with a tight black braid, Oksana appeared extraordinarily beautiful to the young man. Maksym gathered courage and proposed to her. For a moment, the girl stood perplexed. Then she took him by the hand and whispered softly, 'Maksym, I respect you. We are good friends. I cannot betray. I love someone else.' Maksym's heart ached from what he heard. Tears welled up in his eyes, and he left the park slowly...
Soon, he finished his studies at the university. One of his friends gave him a collection of poems called 'Book of Songs' by the great German poet Heinrich Heine. From this book, he translated the poem 'When Two Part' into his native language. It resonated with his soul. He translated it near the Lyra pine tree.
In Kyiv, Maksym Slavinsky met Lesya Ukrainka, the famous Ukrainian writer. She praised his translation of the lyrical work, and it inspired the young writer. Together with Lesya Ukrainka, he translated the 'Book of Songs,' which was published in Lviv in 1892. The translations were signed: 'Maksym Stavinsky'—he took the pseudonym from the name of his hometown, Stavyshche.
The poem from the collection 'Book of Songs' translated by Maksym Slavinsky greatly impressed the Ukrainian composer Mykola Lysenko. He composed a beautiful and touching melody for it. The romance became popular among the people, enduring, as it delicately conveyed deep and sorrowful emotions.
Many talented artists performed the romance 'When Two Part'... However, during Soviet times, the talented translator and original poet Maksym Slavinsky's name was never mentioned, thanks to whom the romance was born.
Maksym Slavinsky, a public and political figure, was born in the town of Stavyshche in Tarashcha County of Kyiv Governorate on August 12 (24), 1868. He cherished warm memories of his "beloved Stavyshche, which he never ceased to love' throughout his life"
